video blogging is badass.

One of my best friends Pat Yurick started video blogging over on HeadGraphics.net. He’s an art teacher who made the website to reach out to his students as well to put an art and teching portfolio online.

Over the past couple of days, he’s gotten really into video blogging aka vlogging. I’ve come to the realization that vlogging is awesome. Not everyone can do it though, only someone with a lot of things to say. Pat is one of those people. If I have the option to read a novel-length blog entry or watch a video, I’d much rather watch a video, especially when they’re funny.

I’m noticing also other people who are video blogging, such as Jason Castro from American Idol via MySpace. He now has “dates” set up with his readers, every Tuesday night at 7pm PST, 10pm EST. In his last entry he talked about how rude it was to pick up a date at 10pm on the east coast and apologized for it. Funny. (…and hell yes I have the hots for a 20 year old, maybe I can lure him in by offering to buy him beer. YES I AM CREEPY.).

I always watch the “live” Qik videos from the infamous Mike Arrington and Robert Scoble too. Qik is laggy as hell, but it’s really interesting to watch people thousands of miles from you, doing something at the same time as you (or as real time as Qik can be with all it’s buffering). I especially loved the Robert Scoble interview with the guys at Twitter, and the video after they left when they explained the tension before the meeting because of the claim that Twitter blamed Scoble for their outages. By the way, Scoble wore his FriendFeed shirt to the interview. BURN.

Anyhow, I’m going on a road trip to Florida starting this weekend and I’m trying to decide if I should vlog the trip. I am going to be REALLY bored, so it’s not the worst idea. But which service to use is the question. I’m guessing since I won’t have wireless service while driving, I should use a cellphone vlog but Qik doesn’t work on my phone. What do you think? Any other good video blogging services out there?

And by the way, vlogging platforms should start using the keyword “cell phone video blogging” cause I didn’t get doodie when I searched in Google.

UPDATE: I found uphoneblog.com to be pretty easy to use. Record, send it from your phone and it shows up on their website. If you have the player on your blog then the videos will show up on your blog too.

For mobile video blogging there’s http://12seconds.tv/ which is new.

Also, 20 is at least LEGAL, so you’ve got that going for you.

I need to keep up the vblogging it is cathardic, I dare even saying catholic confessionary. Alwasy put yourself out into the world and the worst that can happen is nothing. Well nothing and lawsuits. but the drama of a lawuit might be fun. My cousin vinny style. I prefer a nice new sport suit though.
