I know, I’m the worst and Facebook is the best. I’m still not that into it though. I have a MySpace which I check once a day or so and replaces email for me, then I have Facebook which I really only check when I get an email because someone added me.
One of these days I’ll grow to love it, I know. I have no doubt that Facebook is the superior product, but I’m just like the 40 year old who still uses AOL even though they can just pop open Internet Explorer. (aka, my mom).
My MySpace friends list is limited only to people I know whereas my Facebook list is pretty much anyone who adds me, since I have a lot of professional contacts on it.
Maybe I just don’t like needing to keep up with two sites, which are pretty much the same thing. If you can use an IM client like Trillian to connect to all of your AIM, Gmail, Yahoo and MSN peeps, why can’t their be a master social network platform?
MySpace in my opinion, just lets you do what you want, lets your page look how you want it to look (even if it’s horrific), end of story.
Facebook though, I think, might have control issues. Except for the ability to add 10 billion obnoxious modules to your page, every single profile looks the same. The technology is there, I’ll give them that. They were way ahead of MySpace on my favorite feature, photo tagging, but I’m just a visual person and Facebook is too boring for me.
Anyhow, today I added this blog to my Facebook profile. I’ll probably end up with like one fan and it will be embarrassing, but we’ll see. I’ll just be happy if I get enough readers so that they’ll let me add my blog feed to the page. How lame is that, by the way, that you can’t add your feed until X many people are fans?
