The Duck and Bunny in Providence offers a cozy intimate setting for a light snack and comfortable conversation. Oh, and cupcakes!
If your idea of a perfect night includes snuggling up with a blanket, drinking a cup of tea, and quenching your sweet tooth with a bite-sized cupcake, there’s a new “snuggery” in town called The Duck and Bunny.
“The Duck” as locals call it, claims the first floor of an old yellow Victorian house on Wickenden street in Providence. It occupies three separate, lavishly decorated rooms, complete with dark, haunting wall paper and plush antique couches.
Every room in The Duck has a fireplace, lit by an assortment of white candles, and is fiercely decorated with antique mirrors and trinkets. It’s no surprise this place looks fabulous though—Jessica Becker, co-owner, is an interior decorator.
Grab a seat while it’s still open…
Despite its close proximity to Brown University, The Duck is still undiscovered by most locals and maintains a comfortable and uncrowded atmosphere. Since they’ve only been open a couple months, it’s only a matter of time before Providence discovers them and starts piling in. Comfortable blankets and pillows can be found, and a $3 tea will get you an entire teapot that easily refills your cup up to three times.
To compliment the relaxed atmosphere of this “snuggery” (defined as “a cozy or comfortable place”), The Duck also offers a small assortment of wine and beers on tap. For the more hungry visitors, they have a menu of oversized crepes, including a favorite that’s dubbed “The Distinguished Lincoln”, piling together Black Forest Ham & Gruyère with Caramel Mustard.
But wait… there are cupcakes!
What most people come here for are the cupcakes. You’ll find a different variety depending on when you come in, but their classic and most popular cupcake is the Red Velvet. Moist red cake and a super creamy cheese frosting make for a delectable two-bite cake. Speaking of bites, they also “mini” cupcakes, or “cupcake shots” for $1.25 each.
Whether you’re looking for a light, quiet and unique dinner, or are just looking to huddle around a pot of tea with some close friends, The Duck and Bunny at 312 Wickenden Street in Providence is your new bat cave.
If you want to get cozy with The Duck and Bunny before you visit, you can find them on Facebook, on Twitter and on their own website, TheDuckandBunny.com.
